Welcome...

There are several blogs on the internet detailing other people’s walks up hills and mountains in the UK, there are many fine pages showing routes up various fells, many of which will be better than this blog. So, why bother reading my blog? No reason at all, so I guess you might as well move on…

You still here? Cool...let's see...

Ward Stone Walk August 2024

Ward Stone is a hill in Lancashire’s Trough of Bowland and therefore not too long a drive for us. Four of us went in August 2024: Me, Jack, Steve and Mark (whose surname is Ward, but no relation…). We parked on the free carpark at Jubilee Tower and made our way up a decent path along moorland to Grit Fell, then headed right to our main target of the day, Ward Stone.

This is a nice summit with a large boulder (the Stone in question, I assume). It was a nice and clear day and from here we headed to our second hill of the day… Clougha Pike. We passed through disused quarries enroute with strange little shelters. From Clougha Pike we headed down, but had to cut across long, wet grass to the road and back to the car.

I thought I had climbed this one before, but realised I hadn’t, so it was nice to bag a new one…

And here's short photo video I did of it...
