Welcome...

There are several blogs on the internet detailing other people’s walks up hills and mountains in the UK, there are many fine pages showing routes up various fells, many of which will be better than this blog. So, why bother reading my blog? No reason at all, so I guess you might as well move on…

You still here? Cool...let's see...

A’Chralaig May 2023

In May 2023 Andy and I went camping in Glen Sheil, Scotland, just as the midges were planning their yearly attack on humans (a continuing quest for world dominance). After an aborted attempt of The Saddle, due to an uncrossable river, we thought, hey A’Chralaig looks like a jolly good alternative.

We drove to its base and began our long, steep ascent which seemed never ending. Once on the ridge, that too was never ending. All of a sudden, we came upon a Striding Edge type ridge (don’t look down – oh, it’s okay there’s just mist). We reached the top and after a while I headed down into the glen while Andy climbed the next Munro along (Mullach Fraoch-Choire). The glen return was long and painful.

Twas a tough day, so we decided on an easier next day so took a trip to Skye (why wouldn’t you?) and walked to the Point of Sleath – the most southerly point of Skye: photos below…

Those wanting an OS map with the walk can get one here
