Welcome...

There are several blogs on the internet detailing other people’s walks up hills and mountains in the UK, there are many fine pages showing routes up various fells, many of which will be better than this blog. So, why bother reading my blog? No reason at all, so I guess you might as well move on…

You still here? Cool...let's see...

July '20 Hill Wander - Walla Crag from Keswick

Walla Crag isn’t the biggest of hills, but it is certainly one of the finest. It sits perched on the side of Derwent Water, small in stature but big in personality. I have scaled this summit countless times, usually when camping at Castlerigg, but today Jack, Jake and I went up for the day. Covid 19 meant not much in the way of holidaying for us, but it was good to get to the Lakes and the heights. We parked up in Keswick and headed through the busy centre towards Castlerigg Campsites through the woods, then onto the main road. We crossed the bridge and walked the edge of the hill to the summit.

The views here are fantastic. Skiddaw, Blencathra, Derwent, Keswick. Rain started, so we decided to head back. But is soon cleared and we had fine walk back to Keswick… for a pint, of course…
