Welcome...

There are several blogs on the internet detailing other people’s walks up hills and mountains in the UK, there are many fine pages showing routes up various fells, many of which will be better than this blog. So, why bother reading my blog? No reason at all, so I guess you might as well move on…

You still here? Cool...let's see...

May 2019 walk 1: Beinn Ime

May hill walks get all Noah’s Arc this month (coming in 2 by 2). We have ‘walk one’ and ‘walk two.’ This is because me and friends went for a three night stay in Inveraray, Scotland to bag some Munros. We had a pod on the shores of Loch Fyne, such a beautiful setting.
Walk one was Beinn Ime and it was me, my bro Andy and mate Mark (his first Munro since having a new hip!)
The walk to Beinnn Ime started in Arrachor and we headed up through the forest from the car park near Succoth. This is a pleasant wander in the trees, zig-zagging along a good path. Once out of the forest, we were rewarded with a spectacular view of Ben Arthur, or The Cobbler to most. The path headed up, passing The Cobbler on your left and Beinn Narnain on your right. I had done both of these hills previously, Beinnn Narnain and Cobbler with my son Jack two years before and Cobbler with Steve twenty or so years ago!

From the bealach, it is plain to see the route to Beinn Ime: up, up and up! There were a few boggy and damp sections and we had a flurry of snow that lasted a few minutes. The view from the top was immense: we were so lucky to get a cloud free summit, and the views were extensive! We sat and had a lunch, then back down to the car and off for a wee dram (in my case, Wainwright ale).
