Welcome...

There are several blogs on the internet detailing other people’s walks up hills and mountains in the UK, there are many fine pages showing routes up various fells, many of which will be better than this blog. So, why bother reading my blog? No reason at all, so I guess you might as well move on…

You still here? Cool...let's see...

Whernside November 2024

In November, I went on my last walk of 2024, along with Steve and Mark, destination Whernside. We parked up on the road by Ribblehead Viaduct and followed the path along to the right of this amazing structure; seeing it up close is quite impressive and well worth a look.

But we had hills on our mind, so continued on, crossing the Settle to Carlisle railway and the viewing the tunnel, more impressive engineering. Then we turned up the hill and to the summit of Whernside, Yorkshire’s highest hill. A pleasant summit with a large shelter, but as we started to leave snow came in. We took a very steep path down (my legs ached for days after) and then passed the viaduct once more before the walk’s end… and the obligatory pint in the Station Inn.

Here's my photo vid of the walk

Here’s Steve’s vid of the walk.
