Welcome...

There are several blogs on the internet detailing other people’s walks up hills and mountains in the UK, there are many fine pages showing routes up various fells, many of which will be better than this blog. So, why bother reading my blog? No reason at all, so I guess you might as well move on…

You still here? Cool...let's see...

Jan 2019: Arnside Knott

Arnside Knott is a fine hill in South Cumbria which sits proudly overlooking the estuary and stands at just over 500 feet. Not a big hill by any means, but a lovely walk all the same.

A great hike in any season, on a cold wintery day when all you want to do is blow the cobwebs away or in the height of summer before returning back to Arnside for a pint in the pub.

You can park along the sea front for free and walk along the side of the estuary before turning off and up the fell side, through woods and to the summit. Here you are rewarded with awesome views. Me and my old walking buddy Steve walked this on a very cold and windy day, with two dogs in tow. It doesn’t take long and it's a good hill walk to start with if you are a novice. Be sure to take a map and food and drink.
