In September 2025, during our trip to Ballater, I ticked off another Munro from my bucket list, Lochnagar. The four of us (Steve, Mark, Andy and me) set of from Glen Muick, where a rather cantankerous Scottish guy swore a bit when Mark asked him about whether campers can park overnight (I don’t f-ing know, etc).
We walked along the stunning loch and reached the old royal residence, where the queen and her kin would holiday and Charles would write The Od Man of Lochnagar. Here we headed up towards a lovely waterfall, stopping to dwell and full out stomachs with food (in other words, had lunch). Soon after we split into two groups as Mark and Steve had another Munro in mind (they had already climbed Lochnagar). Andy and I went onto to climb said hill. A truly lovely summit. I headed down a long, never-ending path to the car park, as Andy nipped to do another Munro.
