Welcome...

There are several blogs on the internet detailing other people’s walks up hills and mountains in the UK, there are many fine pages showing routes up various fells, many of which will be better than this blog. So, why bother reading my blog? No reason at all, so I guess you might as well move on…

You still here? Cool...let's see...

February Walk: Farleton Fell

The February walk this year was Farleton Fell. Anyone who has driven up the M6 past junction 36 will have seen this fine looking hill, right on the junction, looking to your right (or left if heading down south). Once again it was me, Steve and two dogs*.

*Crazy Spaniels

We parked up at Holme, unleashed the hounds and headed straight up the steep side to the top (around 850 feet), then onto Holme Fell. It is packed with limestone paving and quite tricky under foot, so take your time. The sea of silver limestone is some sight, though (like another world, or a scene from Dr Who), and well worth a look.

The views were of the distant Lakeland hills and of neighbouring Hutton Roof Crags. The walk back was a pleasant wonder through Holme Park and passing the farm, then to the river where Popeye the spaniel had several dives into the river…

Here's a video Steve did of the walk.
