In October, I took a three-night trip to grandiose Glencoe in
Scotland with friends: two days of walking in the wind and rain, two Munros and
two walks to report on.
The second of these hills was Meall a'Bhuiridh, which I had
climbed before, and Creise, but as we know plans go askew! Especially in bad weather.
We were staying at Glencoe Mountain Resort, so our walk
began on our doorstep, with a view of the awesome Buachaille etive Mor - a wonderful
sight to wake to. It was me, the bro Andy and Steve. After admiring an
impressive rainbow, we headed upwards.
The path is easy to follow from near the
chairlifts and we followed these chairlifts to a midway point, then turned
right and crossed a rather strange and unnerving footbridge over a burn.
It was
quite a slog from here to the summit of Meall a'Bhuiridh, with a sprinkling of
hail and a constant wind.
At the summit, we found it hard to see where out next hill, Creise was, as the mist of like… well, Scotch mist… So we decided it would be just the
one hill again that day. We made out way back down to get dry and warm…
