Welcome...

There are several blogs on the internet detailing other people’s walks up hills and mountains in the UK, there are many fine pages showing routes up various fells, many of which will be better than this blog. So, why bother reading my blog? No reason at all, so I guess you might as well move on…

You still here? Cool...let's see...

October 2020 Hill Walk Nicky Nook

There are some walks you do just once, and there are some you again and again. Nicky Nook falls in the latter category for me and there are several reasons for this: one if that is quite near to where I live and another is that it is such a fine little walk. I often feel it is akin to a mini Lakes walk. It is a fine looking hill, and has a nearby stream and pool of water (reservoir).

Nicky Nook has been covered in this blog before and this time round it was Me, Amy and Jake. We parked at the foot of the hill on Higher Lane, but one can park in Scorton to make it a full day. We wanted a few hours to blow the cobwebs away. We were still in the middle of the Covid Pandemic (Tier 3, in fact!), so it was very busy.

We walked along the road for a while, then turned left towards Grizedale and along the stream. A pretty walk, with the ground covered in leaves and a bright blue sky above. Once we reached the reservoir, we had a sandwich and headed left up a path to the summit. Views all around: of Morecambe Bay, and the southern end of the Lakes. We then headed back down, passing the tarn and back to the car.
