Mount Keen is the most easterly Munro and is quite accessible. It was a hill I had been wanting to climb for a long time and during our trip to Ballater, Andy and I did just that. It was a very long walk in from Glen Tanar, through woods and passing streams. It was in fact about a ten mile walk there and another 10 miles back. I decided to wear new boots… Not a good idea as both big toe nails suffered, one coming off in due course!
The top was very windy along the ridge to the summit, but we made it okay and headed back. We spotted an adder on the path and a frog. The adder quickly slid away, but the frog stopped for a chat (or maybe I was just delirious after such a long trek).
